How to use a 3rd party DNS service like OpenDNS?

This was the response I got from Shaw support: If you’d like to use a third-party DNS service, you’re certainly welcome to do so.  Our DNS servers are automatically assigned to you in pairs based on what the cable modem is given, but you can update the servers to anything else you like within your router if you use one, or on your machine within your network settings.

However, I am not sure how to do this. There doesn't seem to be any provision in the router control panel to do this. I have a SMC 8014WN router. Any suggestions? Thanks
