just set up email on mac laptop - can send email but not receive - its there on webmail. have double checked instructions but still cannot find what is wrong. thank you.
Are you getting an error message of anykind?

It sounds like the incoming server port has been set to 587 instead of 110. To change this, please go to Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts -> Advanced, and ensure that the port displayed at the bottom of this page is listed as 110.
but then I get the message

Thank you for trying that. By modifying the incoming server, the outgoing shouldn't have been affected. In this case, it may be best to remove the account from Mac Mail completely and set it up again. Could I please ask you to remove it, and use the Configuration 2 listed here? that is how i first set up and also it says to set to 587 in the instructions.
