As I'm sure a lot of us know, Google has been rolling Gigabit Fiber out to some luck folks in the USA recently. They're offering a 1 Gbps symmetrical connection for $70/month without a setup fee. If I had the means I'd be moving to a Google Fiber city in a split second for that deal.
I know that Shaw has been poking around with Fiber-to-the-Home for years now, even here in Calgary.
When can we expect to see this level of service or even something remotely close to it from Shaw? Heck I'd be happy with plans like the Verizon FIOS offerings. 50/50 Mbps is a lot more appealing than 50/3 Mbps to me, and that particular FIOS plan is cheaper than Shaw's Broadband 50 plan as well.
If Shaw is looking for individuals willing to sit through a lengthy installation and testing phase for a FTTH connection, please sign me up immediately!
