Why is there 2 SD Channels Of RSNW channel 47 SD and 223 SD
Also noticed on SNWHD 223 that the guide is frequently wrong. Annoying that this is sold to us as a HD channel but is broadcast in SD.
Ya this doesn't make sense, 2013 World Baseball is currently being broadcast in HD on Soprtsnet One ch 224 but in SD on ch 223. Looks like someone at Sportsnet may have messed up at the switchboard tonight.
You all may be in the Winnipeg system. The reason the guide is wrong and the feed is in SD is because it’s blacking out the Edmonton and Calgary hockey games. Rather than leaving the screen black, Sportsnet Pacific (CH 145) is put over top of the Sportsnet West feeds. Unfortunately, there is no Pacific HD feed so the SD is put over top of the HD feed as well. The blackout is scheduled to go out at 00:58 CST Saturday morning.
Hope that helps,
Why would those games be blacked out in Winnipeg? Should we not be able to watch them since we are not in the catchment area to go to the games?
Due to regional broadcast regulations set forth by the NHL, Sportsnet game telecasts must be blacked out in certain areas of Canada. The broadcast boundaries for Sportsnet's regional NHL games have been set by the NHL since the network's inception in 1998 and Sportsnet is contractually obligated to follow them.
Any Calgary Flames or Edmonton Oilers games on Sportsnet West or the Sportsnet ONE companion channels Sportsnet Flames and Sportsnet Oilers can only be seen in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
Note for Manitoba residents: As of the 2011-12 season, NHL blackout restrictions dictate that all Flames and Oilers games on these channels are blacked out for viewers in Manitoba.
