Ok am I the only one that finds it asinine that the Arris XB6 has only 2 Lan inputs?
With a new Smart TV and streaming tv/movies sometimes in 4K you need a Lan connection.
With PS4/XBox is it not ideal to have a Lan connection for online gaming?
Home computer you want a Lan connection.. or at least I do.
If you have Smart Hubs for lights/Blinds/etc they require a Lan link.
Thats 4 I can think of. But a so called advanced Modem has 2?!
Am I the only one thinking this?
I stream 4K on my Smart TV and Apple TV, a well as game on my XBOX One X. All over Wi-Fi with no issues using the XB6.
I find it a lot more annoying that it isn't wall-mountable.
The issue with adding a switch is that if the modem reboots, the device with an existing DHCP lease can't get online until it renews anyways.
With the switch in place the device won't have the Ethernet interface drop and come back up, renewing it's DHCP lease on it's own.. Been there done that... Newer security measure I am guessing, stopping people from statically assigning their IP address? PITA when one uses a switch in bridge mode. Otherwise LAN side, a switch is simple/easy.
I have network switches I can't even give away...
