snap.do keeps replacing google as my home page on IH. Did some seaching and it appears to be a virus. I am running mcaffee from shaw and am not getting a virus warning. Help.
Try a full-system scan first, right click the M shield at the bottom and scan? (if I remember correctly that is how to do it)
Maybe one of the wonderful employees from the Shaw Secure team can help?
Not exactly a virus, more companies are now calling these "Possibly Unwanted Programs". And many standard antivirus programs won't detect/remove it automatically. Thankfully they are usually very easy to uninstall through the Control Panel.
So we recommend that you check the Programs and Features list (or Add/Remove Programs for XP) in your Control Panel and check for anything from Snap.Do (or any other questionable Toolbars or Browser Addons). Run the uninstall option on the programs you've found and want to remove. Once it they are uninstalled, then do the following checks and updates to Internet Explorer (or the browser you are using):
If you have any problems with uninstalling/removing the unwanted add-on (snap.do) then you can also try and use a program like Malwarebytes or SuperAntiSpyware. Please understand that these third party programs are not provided by or supported by Shaw Technical Support.
Hope this helps.
Snapdo is not a virus - it is a legit app. That is why your malware and antivirus aren't picking up on it. If you go to Snapdo's Help, there is a simple explanation for uninstalling the widget. http://www.snapdoapp.com/faq/SnapDo/FAQ.aspx?lang=en
