... in Victoria? I cannot find it anywhere either in the Guide or the February list of channels. I know it started operation today.
I live in Powell River and was wondering the same thing? I've tried every channel 21, 111, and 216 and nothing.
21 & 216
Yes 21 and 216 were what were advertised. However neither one of these is available in Victoria right now, I just checked again.
Same here just checked again nothing
When it is inserted in the guide then we will get it, just another in-house guide problem not sent to the zap crew.
I am in Abbotsford and I am unable to get access to the station. Big fail on Global's part to make sure that those who have Shaw Cable actually get the channel.
Try 111; if you don't live in the Lower Mainland, you need to go to 111. 21 and 216 won't work for you.
Thank you Melissa Jayne! Yes 111 is working in Victoria.
111 is working in Ladysmith
11 is simulcasting
I'm watching it right now on 111 here in Victoria.
There was some weirdness as it got added, then disappeared, and 112 took it's place in the guide. When I removed 112 from the 'Channel List' (Shaw added it not me) 111 showed back up in the guide again. 111 was always selected, so I am not sure why it disappeared until 112 went away.
Still not receiving in Cloverdale area on any of the above channels.
Not receiving in Surrey just yet, hope by 10am, right now not concerned its just Jill Krop on and she is so boring.
I find it shocking that there is ZERO info on any shaw.ca on the new BC1 station.
I wanted to help clarify a few things regarding the launch of BC1 HD. The channel will be available by the end of the day today in all BC regions for non-HD Guide/Gateway equipment, and it will be available by the end of the day tomorrow for HD Guide and Gateway equipment.
The HD version is an MPEG4 channel, which requires MPEG4 compatible equipment. If you're using MPEG2 equipment, you may get audio only with no video. We have more information about MPEG4 equipment available here.
The SD and HD versions are available as part of our Digital Basic and Personal TV packages.
Well it's halfway through the day here in Powell River, just checked on the tv for bc1 channel and though and behold there is nothing here yet?
I guess that if I want to be a customer of shaw, and enjoy premium tv i need to be prepared to spend 100's of dollars every few years to keep up with the equipment needed to watch your programing. This added to my monthly bill ads up to be very expensive.I have 3 shaw hd boxes in my house at original cost of almost $1000.Now I need to upgrade again.
You'll wait forever, according to my chat with "Shaw Chat". Our cable, they say, is "satellite fed" so we don't and won't receive the BC1 channel. Just like Telus -- we're 2nd class citizens.
What about the folks who don't use a digital box? I can't get it on channel 21, even though most channels 2-28 are available. I realize Shaw wants us to go to the boxes, but you can't have two of them in close proximity (living room & kitchen) because changing the channel on one changes the channel on the other. I was looking forward to seeing BC1 while i work in the kitchen. Guess I'm stuck with the national CTV News and CBC News.
Which city are you in that you can't get it on 21?
Hi Kevinds. I’m in North Vancouver. I get it on my digital box, just not on the tv with the cable plugged in directly. The solution eventually I suspect will be some kind of differential coding that allows two boxes to work in close proximity, using different remotes. In the meantime my only solution is one TV “on the box” and the other straight into the cable (with the loss of most of the digital channels). For the kitchen, I only watch a limited number of channels so it hasn’t been a big deal. But I thought that BC1 would be a nice addition, and it sits in the same group as the other still analogue channels.
Yeah, the only solution to that right now is one TV on a Portal and the other on the general terminals (the Gateway system uses different remotes).
I wasn't expecting channel 21 to be digital only, sorry
I live in Powell River too. I asked, on twitter, why no BC1? Reply from @shawhelp was "BC1 is not launching in Powell River." At least it was unequivocal.
According to information from Shaw on Customer Chat, Powell River won't receive BC1 because cable here is Satellite fed. Asked if there is a list of similarly affected towns/areas in BC reply was "no list".
Seems to beg the question, though, that if regular cable here in P.R. is satellite fed, what is Optic TV?
