I received a email communication from Shaw stating that my email account will be deleted. It asked to download a form which requests my credit card information. Is this a valid email from Shaw?
Some of our customers have forwarded us an email that they received today:
Your SHAW Cable account has been marked for deletion. To continue using your account, your identity must be confirmed. You may re-activate your account by following the steps below. 1. Download the Activation Form attached to this email. 2. Open it in a browser. 3. Follow the instructions on your screen. After finishing the activation process you may use your account normaly. Thank you, SHAW Cable Customer Support
This email is NOT from Shaw. We would never send our customers an email requesting that they click on a site and enter their credit card information.
If you could forward it to us, we can take steps to block it for all of our customers. Including the headers would be great as that would let us trace the sender. Information on finding the headers is at How to report email spam by sending email headers .
We are also aware of this one:
Dear Customer, We are unable to process your last payment with the information we have on file. Did you recently change your Phone, Credit Card, Address and/or Bank? LOG IN to update your information To ensure that your service is not interrupted, please update your billing information today by Signing In. After a few clicks, just verify the information you entered is correct!
Again, forwarding it to firstname.lastname@example.org, complete with headers, would be greatly appreciated.
