Now that DNU is done in my area I wonder when I can expect 5 Mbps upload speeds?
We may need to refresh your modem if your plan includes 5mbps up, the DNU has been completed in your area and you're not yet seeing those speeds. I will send you a direct message, please check your Inbox for this ^.
Hey [shaw]jeff, I had my modem refreshed back when the DNU was completed in my area. However the Shaw website has since changed to reflect that 3Mbps is still the highest available? It showed 5Mbps for a month or two and then reverted.
Just wondering why this happened? Thanks in advance for any info!
In order to receive 5mpbs upload speed through Broadband 50, your area will need to have had Phase Two of our Digital Network Upgrade completed. At this time, many areas have had Phase One of the DNU completed but not Phase Two, and in these areas 3mbps will be the maximum upload speed at this time.
But DNU isn't completed in Calgary (and surrounding area) but BB50 has 5 mbps upload, and the analog channels that are getting removed, the frequencies are way above what the modems use for upload
DNU never made sense to me as a reason for upload limits.
[shaw]jeff and kevinds when I say my modem was refreshed I mean that I was given the 5Mbps speed. I still have it, and the Calgary portion of the website showed 5Mbps upload speed for a month or two. It was then changed to show 3Mbps, yet I still have 5Mbps.
Did I just luck out somewhere?
I have no idea, I know last year when I had my brother's modem bridged his upload speed went from 5 down to 3, it took a number of months to get it back to 5
I'm sure that some people get 5 and others get 3, as I said, I have no idea why some people in some areas do. The DNU answer just doesn't make sense.
