I cannot send email from Outlook 2010 with a Shaw email address. The error message says "Send test emailmessage: cannot send the message. Verify the email address in your account properties. The server responded: 530 authentication required."
I've sent you a private message so I can take a look at what's stopping you from sending. Please check your community inbox at the top and we'll get it figured out.
Which outgoing server and port are you using? Do you have the Username/Password turned on in Outlook?
Are you currently at home?
I believe 530 normally will come up when you are connecting without a username and password, trying to send email when not using Shaw internet.
I am using Outlook at a shared office, not using Shaw internet.
The outgoing mail server is mail.shaw.ca. Not sure what port...where would I find this? The username/password is turned on in Outlook.
Thank you very much for your help!
Advanced far right tab, where you checked if the user/pass was turned on
Look for Port and the Security dropdown
Port 587, security None
Here are my screenshots, on yours, you should be able to use Same as Incoming server in the middle picture though.
After making the changes, I receive the following message "Send test email message: your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings."
I have verified the U/N & P/W, and I still can't send! Any ideas?
Has it worked in the past? Or is this the first time you've been away from home?
Sounds like now it is trying to login, but not successful.
Log into webmail, Preferences, General, Mobile Devices, enter your password and then click Check Password. When it passes, click Save and try again
Also might need a shaw-moderator to check that you have remote access enabled on your email address.
I checked that Remote Access is enabled. I did also reset my password but I am still having the same problem with Outlook.
It works now. Thanks!
Glad to hear it! Thanks for the update.
