The guide does not appear when the button on the remote is pressed. The menu button also does not work. How can I fix this?
First push the Cable button on your remote and try again,
Can you press the Menu button on the front of the terminal, does that work to bring up the menu (this will test if the terminal froze/crashed).
There are definately a lot more tests to determine what caused this, but start with these...
Did kevinds's advice work?
Pushing the Cable button would be the best first step. If someone pushed a different button along the top (for example, TV), the remote would try to send the guide and menu commands to that other device instead of the digital box.
It work for most of the channels but not all.
Is it the HD Channels the guide is not working for Ch 200 and up?
I've seen cases of this in the past, guide works on some channels, but not all, to do with if the channel was HD or SD and what output resolution the terminal was set to (the 4:3 Override setting)
Kent_88 has a good point. If you have a DCX3510, there is a feature called "HD overlay". If you punch in an HD channel, it will go to the HD channel but will default to the standard definition channel number.
You can also try a factory reset on the Shaw remote.
1. press CBL
2. hold SETUP til CBL blinks twice
3. enter 981 on the remote's number pad
4, CBL will blink 4 times to indicate it's been reset
Now you will need to reprogram the remote for the digital box -
3. enter 982
4. CBL will blink 4 times to indicate it's been reset
5. hold SETUP til CBL blinks twice
6. enter 1376
7. hold SETUP til CBL blinks twice
8. enter 982
9. CLB will blink twice
Next step would be to try channel numbers and menu to see if they're working.
