I am running a Cisco DPC3825 WiFi router in the house. I have a Grandson who sometimes likes to be on the internet rather than doing homework. Is there a way that I can temp block his Iphone and Apple MacBook pro to get him off the net?
There is a Time of Day Rules setting. After you log into the router, go to Access Restrictions and then click on the Time of Day Rules tab. In there, you can add filters. If you want your grandson not to be on certain times of the day, you might call the filter Grandson, or whatever his name is, in the blank box beside Add. Then click on the Add button and click on the little blank box beside Enable. Further down, you can pick what days you want this filter to be in effect, and specific times that the filter is in effect. Once you've done that, click on the Save Settings on the bottom. You can then log out of the router and you should be good to go.
Hope that helps.
Thanks ,I was hoping for something simpler as the times are not constant. Some times he has no homework so its not an issue. Maybe my best option would be to turn off the WiFI but then I have no connection to my computer or my Iphone .
It looks like that's about the only option using the modem. The only other option I can think of would be to pull the plug on it and/or remove the battery until he does his homework.
Block the MAC address?
Setup the MAC addresses for his devices and turn on MAC filtering, and then turn off the filtering when you will allow him online, would have to be done manually, but might work for you.
