Since registering my iPod touch with Shaw wifi hotspots I am unable to send or receive email or send messages with iMessage when connected to my home wifi network. Both email and iMessage work when connected to Shaw hotspots.
Your home WiFi and the ShawOpen WiFi are completely seperate, and no data is shared.
Only thing that I can think of is your IP isn't updating (DHCP issue, your IP isn't updating when you get back home) this could only be the issue if you have no internet over your home WiFi, not just email and iMessage. Can you use any internet services when at home?
Try rebooting your iPod and your home to test.
What version of iOS are you running? Have you updated to 6.1.3 the newest version, updating may resolve a glitch with the older iOS.
I have updated to iOS 6.1.3
When I first returned home I had no Internet capability at all but after rebooting home wifi and iPod I was able to access the web thru Safari. I am still unable to email or send messages with iMessage.
