There are only a few channels on my dish that will work on my receiver in my living room. My bedroom one is fine. What would be wrong with it? When I check the signal strength on some of the channels it is 0.
I've asked roryg take a look at this for you (our Shaw Direct moderator), although I'm not sure when she'll be able to reply. In the meantime, my recommendation would be to simply remove the power cord from the back of the unit for 30 seconds, reconnect it and then give it another try. Also, you might want to remove/reconnect the connection from the wall outlet to the back of the receiver to ensure it's tight, since you mentioned signal was showing at 0 for some channels.

That sounds like the best option at the moment. I'm sorry I can't help you out here, but I'm sure that we can get this fixed for you right away when you call.
If you can, try a different port on the LNB on your dish, it sounds like the polarity isn't changing, could be the receiver not using the other voltage as well though.
