Just had this pvr added to our account it was my sisters old one but I have no sound on my tv. I have reset the PVR checked connection and checked to make sure tv was not on mute. HELP!!!
How is your PVR connected to the TV?
Are you using a DVI-HDMI adapter by chance?
HDMI cable no adapter and I have tried a new HDMI input on tv as well
Sound system too? Or HDMI direct to your TV?
Can you try component cables for HD instead of HDMI as a test?
HDMI right into tv. Tried Component cables and am getting sound. Tried a second HDMI cable and even in different HDMI input on tv but still no sound
Weird... Is it a problem to use component cables?
shaw-moderators is this a time to reset from your side? Or continue to look at things and hopefully figure out if an audio setting is set wrong in mgusway's PVR?
We could try a reset of the 3416.
On the other hand, could you connect the HDMI to something else, such as a DVD player, to the same TV input? If it has sound, we'll know it's the 3416 that's the issue versus sound being turned off in the TV settings for that input.
I have done that and I do get sound out of my dvd player. I have a service call booked for today and we will see what happens. I found some instructions online on how to do a reset on the 3416 but it has not helped me. I will let you know what happens after the service call.
Definitely let us know!
Tech came and went to a different settings menu that I didn't know existed and changed something to do with HDMI in there. He did show me how to get there and hopefully I will remember. Great service from my Service Tech Kevin from Shaw Cable Victoria!
Nice mgusway, thanks for following up and for the feedback for Kevin! I'll make sure that's passed along for you.
No not a problem to use component, but I had been using HDMI before and am wondering why it isn't working now
