Hi I am trying to log into my wifi setup and it won't let me in. I don't know if the router is bridged or not. I am trying to set up a guest wifi for my cottage.
Can you see the names of the Wireless networks around you on your WiFi PC/Tablet/Phone? Does one correspond to the one on the sticker on the top of the Cisco or SMC modem. If you can see that SSID name the router is not bridged and should be able to connect with the password on the sticker on the top of the SMC/Cisco modem. What make of Wifi Router/Modem is it SMC/Cisco or do you have a different brand ?
Were you able to find out if your wifi modem is bridged?
First, look for the brand of modem. If it's Motorola, it is not capable of wifi. You would need to swap it for a wifi modem or connect your own third party router.
But if you have an SMC or Cisco, it is a wifi modem. As Kent mentioned, look for the sticker on your Shaw wifi modem. It should tell you the SSID (wifi name) on your modem. On your computer, on the list of available wifi connections, look for that SSID. If you can't see the SSID, your modem is probably bridged. If it is, a Shaw rep can unbridge it for you.
