MY phones all say "check tel line" and have no dial tone. I have reset the terminal a few times, and even removed and re-installed the battery. Still no dial tone. The line 1 is flashing green. What can I do now???
Normally the "check tel line" message will mean that there is a problem along the line that runs from the Home Phone modem to the phone jacks in your home. Sometimes this can be caused by phones left off the hook; however, it's more commonly caused by loose wiring between a phone handset base and a phone jack on the wall.
Could I please ask you to try disconnecting all the wired phones or cordless phone bases within your home, and reconnect them one at a time? Please test for a dial tone each time. If this does not work, please try making a direct connection to the Home Phone modem. We have more detailed steps regarding how to do this available here: https://community.shaw.ca/docs/DOC-1031#solution4.
Please let me know if the dial tone returns after disconnecting/reconnecting all the handsets, or if you get a dial tone when directly connected to the Home Phone modem.
Tel 1 flashing means the modem things there is a telephone off the hook somewhere.
Next step is unplug the telephone wire on the modem, see if Tel1 stops flashing, if it does, try plugging a telephone directly into the back
