My modems bottom light is blinking orange. What do I do?

On all modems, it indicates a 10 or 100 mbps data connection to a computer or router
As for your pages not responding,
Do you have a router?
Shutdown your computer, unplug the power to the modem and the router (if you have one)
Plug in the power to the modem only, wait until you get the 4 green lights, at this point you will not have the amber light
Plug the power back into your router, wait 30 seconds.
Or if you just have the modem and computer... Try booting your computer up now.
I don't have a router, I don't think. I did try unplugging the power to the modem , replugging it and restarting the computer but it still constantly tells me that the pages aren't responding.
Do you have any WiFi in your home?
Which model of modem do you have? Motorola? Cisco? or SMC?
No WiFi. The modem is Motorola SB5102
The oversized telephone cable coming out of the SB5102, where does it connect to? Another box/device? Or directly into your computer?
Your computer, what operating system? Windows XP? Vista? 7? 8? Mac OS?
What browser are you using? Safari? FireFox? Internet Explorer?
The cable goes directly into the back of my computer.
I have Windows XP and both Internet Explorer Provided by Shaw and Google Chrome.

yes that worked, the google webpage came up but with no graphics, only text. That's why I have Google Chrome as well as Internet Explorer; for when I have to see the graphics on a page.
still having connectivity issues
So if you use Chrome, that's when you're able to view images? Or you're able to view images on sites through Internet Explorer only? Do you have the same trouble with either, in terms of getting the 'pages not responding' error?
If one browser works fine but the other one doesn't, then that narrows it down for us. If the same problem is happening with both though, then it might be best for us to take a look at your modem from here, just to be sure it has a good signal and there aren't any issues we can see.

I was thinking about trying the IE advanced reset, but I couldn't find a good guide for non-tech people to follow, shaw-matt do you have one?
If it is only in Internet Explorer that the problem is happening, then yes trying an advanced reset might help. Good call kevinds. We actually do have a guide on this here:

No, it happens in both IE and Google Chrome, frustratingly often.
The difference between them is that in IE I only get part of the page content, no download now buttons or run test buttons, just blank where they should be.
In Google, i get a lot of " Shockwave plug in is not responding" as well as the page not responding messages.
It seems like I lose my internet connection about a third of the time.
lysettevan That is probably pretty close to what is actually happening... Some websites simply won't load
