New vs. Old PVR?

OK, I had a conversation with Shaw, and they gave me the new HDPVR as a part of a new promotion.

The menus take too long to register commands, there are no decent customization features (coloured menus, etc) and trying to delete a previously viewed program is an experiment in futility.

So, after ten minutes of dealing with the box, I had enough and took the box out and put the old one in. Thing is...why don't I get the same channels on the old box as I do on the new? Example: Spike TV, Teletoon, etc. I could get on the new box, but trying to access them on the old box? Not happening. While I had access on the new box, the old one says the channel is not authorized.

The new box really doesn't do it for me, so I'm planning on either returning it or putting it in the entertainment room. I don't see any advantage to it, and I'm much happier with the old.
