My Gateway is giving me an error saying "No Shaw Gateway Found" how do I fix this?
Check the Gateway unit? 7 solid blue lights?
Try rebooting the Gateway, then rebooting the Portal a minute or two later
Did kevinds's suggestion to powercycle the Gateway and then the Portals work for you? Please feel free to reply back to this thread if you're still noticing that same error message.
It is my understanding that power cycling the gateway is a last resort, as it can do damage to the hard drive and compromise the internal components. In addition it can cause the gateway to drop the internal logs, which can mask what may be causing the real issues, such as packet loss, poor signal levels from the main line to the gateway, or from the gateway to the portals. Is this true?
You're right - most issues can be fixed by resetting the gateway; however, it's a blanket fix. While it can resolve issues, it doesn't really narrow down the exact problem. The error message that you've outlined indicates an issue connecting to the Gateway, and normally for this we would first try a power cycle of just the Portal(s).
Are you still seeing that error message? If so, could you please power cycle just the Portal, to see if it reconnects? Also have you moved any equipment from the original installation location?
