Sending New Emails from iPad

I set up our iPad using Microsoft Exchange so we can have our shaw mail accounts available.  I followed the set-up instructions and I am now able to receive emails and respond to these emails.  What I cannot do is create a new email and send it - the send button does not activate when a new email is created.  What is the fix?
