Does Shaw carry or supply a booster to magnify wireless wifi? If not, does anyone know where to get one in Winnipeg?
Most electronic stores have them, but until they do the firmware update on the Cisco modem, they won't work (if you are using the Cisco)...
Almost any wireless router can be adapted to work when plugged in with a wire, if you have the SMC modem, most of the wireless extenders/repeaters will work for you.
Thanks for your answer.
I recently bought a Panasonic smart tv and my wireless setup won't connect to it. Yet right below it on a shelf I have a LG blu-ray that picks it up no problem. What my best solution with out hard wiring? (Kind of defeats the purpose if wireless...).
Wireless bridge, also used with some gaming systems and Bluray players, will take a wireless signal and make it wired.
Meaning I could run a wire from the Blu-ray to the TV to view TV content?
No, something like this
Takes a wireless signal and converts it back to wired for hooking devices up.
Is this added to the existing router or does it replace it?
Would this also work?
That device would go behind your TV, or under/beside...
That device takes a wireless signal, and allows wired network only devices to use it, if your audio receiver has an ethernet port, that could be used to plug it in as well.
The USB wireless adapter will be to make a computer that has no wireless ability, to add it to a wireless network.
Using that device with my laptop allows it to receive the wireless signal. It seems sufficiently strong enough from room to room or floor to floor. This would not be the same with it inserted into a USB port on the TV? (Excuse my thickness).
Your TV won't have the drivers (software that tells your computer how to use it, what it is) so it won't work when plugged into your TV.
So I guess the thingy from Staples is my best option.
Most of the Wireless Bridge products should work, that is the first one I found
It bugs me that I put out the cost of a new TV with smart capability and I have to put out more money to use this feature.
Weak wireless in your TV (since your Bluray connects ok) could try contacting Panasonic support about it.
