Why cant I get this channel? I get it for a second, then I get "Receiver has lost satellite signal. re-acquisition is in progress"
It NEVER comes on and I pay for this...I love this channel. where is it???? So frustrating
Ok, went on the roof and with the help of a friend was able to adjust the dish now I have
T1 and T2 in the 90's. and can now enjoy channel 340 ....thanks for the help
What happens if you tune to the station, and then check the signal strength?
why would the signal strength change if I didn't touch anything and why on only ONE channel and not the others??
Different transponders, different polarity
Shoudn't hurt to check
Signal Power (Tuner 1) 72
Signal Power (Tuner 2) 61
SAC Rate :1
I think Tuner 2 is too low
You will probably have that on a few channels, maybe ones you don't watch (or subscribe to)
Tuner 1 is lower than it should be, if I remember correctly, 70 is on the low end of acceptable too, so you may need/want to have your dish re-aimed. if that is the cause of the low signal.
ok, so I must go on the roof and re-aim? is the dish on some sort of pivot? I know I must sound stupid, but not used to this sort of thing..Had cable all my life
roryg might be able to help, Rory, does Shaw Direct have techs for this sort of thing, or am I way off altogether?
Yes, kind of, it moves in three directions, clockwise/counterclockwise, side to side, and up and down, it should be bolted tight though...
ok, thanks and how to fix that?
UpDATE..just checked again and now
72 and 76 (if you were on channel 340 when you went to check the signal), was it watchable then?
How to fix, aim the dish again
no, screen is black now and settings is
wont adjusting the dish throw off all the other channels?
now screen is black and signal is
ya, is the customer supposed to go on the roof and fix this?? Remember the episode of Two and a Half Men?
Waiting for roryg to answer that one,
I'm sure that many customers do go and fix it themselves, others, I know wouldn't be able to
Did the refresh help at all?
Hey speedbird. We would never ask a customer to realign their dish unless they're comfortable with it. With the signal you're currently receiving, things should be okay. However, there is one other component that we should check: back in the options screen where you got the signal, in brackets you should see "ecb/no" with a number after it. Could you let me know what this says? *rg
Signal T1 - 3.7dB
Signal T2 - 1.3dB
No I have not gone on the roof yet as I need 2 people here to do that. Me on the roof and another to see the numbers.
you say that with the signal i'm getting things should be ok, however, still don't get channel 340 NAT HD
Signal T1 - 1.3
Signal T2 - 4.0
At least it was a simple solution, not in implmention, but the issue was a simple one
Aiming the dish better should help all the channels come in better, and help you maintain signal on bad weather days
Try a receiver refesh maybe?
