Just wanted to know if the power to the DVR is off, will it still record?
It's safe to turn off your PVR even if you have a recording set, as it will still wake up and start recording. When it's 'off', it's more of in a standby state then completely turned off.
If that's the case why don't my shows record. Is there something in settings that need to be changed?
Have you ever noticed that your recordings aren't working even if the PVR is on at the time? There's really no setting to allow or prevent the PVR from waking up to record. Does this happen for every recording set to start when the PVR is off?
some of the time yes, when my DVR is on, it does not record a show. Very often it dies not turn on when it is off.
Okay then there's probably a hardware or software problem causing this behaviour. Have you unplugged the power from the PVR lately? If not, then I would recommend you do this as well as unscrew the coaxial cable from the back of the PVR and from the wall. Reconnect everything after 30 seconds or so and then see if you're still having the same trouble (the guide information and your list of recorded programs will take a bit of time to show up again after you remove the power).
If this doesn't work or if you've already tried these steps, let me know. We might have to try some further troubleshooting from our end.
When you say powered off, are you unplugging the PVR or disconnecting the power from it using some sort of switch?
It's just the power button on the PVR that has been turned off
Ok, just checking, I know it seems silly/simple, but had to ask
