If you plug the cable line from the wall directly into the TV, does the TV get the analog stations?
I Only have the one wall plug in the apartment, and that's hooked up to a big square box which leads to my modem and original cable box
I am supposed to connect the second cable box to the first thought the RF out correct?
No, RF out is channel 3/4 for a TV
You should be getting a 2-way splitter for the main Shaw line before your first Shaw Terminal box, or 3-way on the main cable line if you only have one outlet, going to your modem, and two TVs
OK I bought a 2way splitter. And my original tv still works fine but now the second box tv says "not authorized" ?
DO I have to pay to have a second box in the house?
As long as you own the box and it's not a rental, then no you do not have to pay to use it.
Sounds like we're getting closer to things working correctly there. The Not Authorized message would indicate that the box is receiving signal over the cable connection, but is not activated to receive channels, or has to be reset before it'll work correctly.
Just to be sure you have things hooked up correctly, can you please confirm:
Main cable line attaches to splitter
One leg of splitter goes out to first cable box
Second leg of splitter goes out to second cable box
The cable from each leg of the splitter to each cable box should go to "RF in" or "Cable in" on the boxes, as opposed to the out.
If that's all right, then please try the steps described here to reset the box.
YEs I hav everything connected like you described.,I tried resetting the box but still says unauthorized. I also tried plugging it directly to the wall and still said unauthorized. I bought the box used off another shaw customer, is it possible that has someshing to do with the problem?

If the box came from another customer, it may have not yet been activated on your account.
