My internet connection goes in and out of connection several times a day. None of the troubleshooting tips work.
When it goes out, do the lights change on your modem?
The online light flashes or is out
Then I suspect signal issue, check the cable line from the wall to the modem first, tight both ends, not chewed by pet or something similiar, splitter/powerbar in the line?
There is a splitter. But it was the shaw technician that came to set up our cable box that put it on. How do I fix it if the splitter is the cause?
You will want to test it could be the cause first, can you bypass the splitter, it will disconnect whatever else is connected to it though, the line In on the splitter, connect that directly to your modem, or disconnect your modem from the Out port, and plug it into the wall outlet instead.
The splitter could be faulty, or there may not be enough signal going into the splitter, so when the splitter divides it, there isn't enough left for the modem
-Or it could be something else all together...
A shaw-moderator may be able to check your modem levels if it is signal issue
