Fairchild tv (channel 517 and 518) will carry a new HD channel Fairchild 2 HD. Will this new channel be carried by Shaw? Or only Bell has it?
I like to know too, Fairchild will launch the HD channels on May 23, 2013. Shaw are you going to carry them?
I would like to know as well. I've heard Rogers won't be carrying the HD channel. Let's hope Shaw won't be doing the same.
I think Shaw should carry the FairChild HDTV channels, but up to now they still have no channel nos. yet ?? But Bell already have the channels nos. !!
I suspect (and this is 100% just a guess) that Shaw won't have Fairchild anytime soon, based on the fact that Shaw has no HD channels other than english right now, for example there are a number of French channels that Shaw should carry being an official language in this country.
Shaw should add many channels in HD, but I doubt this will be added anytime soon.
I honestly doubt Shaw will be able to offer the new channel in a timely fashion. The general response from the customer reps is "blah blah blah, if you let us know you are interested we may carry the new channel. blah blah blah I can't give a direct response because I need to be factually correct."
Basically, if there is enough demand, they will carry it. Or when everyone else carries it, they will carry it, so they don't divert their customer base.
I might sound antagonistic against shaw, but i'm not. Loving the shaw wifi everywhere I go, just disappointed that I'll probably have to wait until telus gets the channel before we get it.
If Shaw has no plan to carry the HD chinese channels, I may have to switch to order service provider that carry them from Lower Mainland, BC.
Upon research, looks like only Bell has it for the moment. Telus will come next in July. Shaw and Rogers have no plan to carry it for now.
I just called them, and i don't feel they attach importance to this channel. At first, the guy knew nothing about the new HD fairchild TV channel, and started selling me service. I endup got mad and he had to talk to the Chinese department to find out that I have to put my account number to request this service. They said they were not planning to get it yet, unless a lot of people request for it.
If Telus is going to carry it on July, I will switch.
Here's what I found from Fairchild tv website:
I would love Fairchild in HD on Shaw I've been wondering why they haven't gone HD years ago when TVB had already made the switch
Now that they have I can't believe Shaw wasn't the first to offer it!
Is this a chatting room or we expect a Shaw rep to give us an official answer?
We're definitely looking at everyone's comments here on Fairchild in HD. It's great to see this discussion going on, I know we have many customers who would like to have these channels added to our lineup. At the moment, unfortunately we don't have any details on this, but the best way to make sure our programming teams are aware of the demand (in addition to the comments here) is to send us a channel request by email here.
We do constantly review these requests and factor them into any decisions we make about which channels to offer next.
Great to see a response from someone from Shaw and thanks for the information
Rogers & Telus will have them soon, may be we have picked a wrong cable company.
Any estimate timeframe for Shaw to carry Fairchild 2 HD channel? If there is no plan in the next 6 months or a year, this will help some of your customers to decide whether we should terminate the service with Shaw and join others since all other vendors (Bell, Telus, Rogers etc) have carried this channel already. Shaw is the only one way behind as usual.
We still don't have any word yet on bringing in Fairchild HD.
But I would definitely recommend filling out the channel request form at Channel Request(s) Form 1.0.
you guys are really way behind Bell, Rogers, Telus. Customers on those company do not need to fill out channel request form to get the Fairchild 2 HD. It is shame to be a Shaw customer.
I feel the same too. I guess it's time to move on and switch to one of the other companies. Most if not all have better technologies too, like be able to schedule a pvr recording remotely from a smart phone or computer. Shaw is just way too behind.
I agree, Shaw should give us a timeframe about Fairchild 2 HD. If no plan to carry it, I have to switch to Telus.
