I am unable to recover older emails from either my mail link on my Mac or directly from the Shaw Webmail site. It is showing about 15 emails and thats it. Help!
Definitely disconcerting if it seems that you're missing some of your old email. If you current have Mac Mail set up to download your email and then delete it from the server, the only place where it would be located would be within Mac Mail on your computer. Something may have happened with your client account within Mac Mail to cause your email to disappear.
I'm just guessing though based on your description of the problem. If you could provide us with some more detail on the situation (if the email you're looking for was in your inbox, or another folder perhaps), that would help. It may also be worth accessing Webmail and trying to recover any recently deleted/downloaded items by right-clicking on the Trash and selecting the option to restore email.
I had something similar happen with the mail app I have on my smart phone. When I tried grabbing via the computer, there was nothing there. I knew there was a week's worth of new(er) mail there. I went to webmail for that particular email account, went to Trash and tried the "Recover Deleted Items" options (right-click on the Trash folder) and that magically brought back the mail I thought was gone. I can't remember if I moved it back to the Inbox manually or whether it just happened. However it got there, I was able to use my mail client on the computer to get the mail I thought I lost.
You could give that a try to see if you can get your mail.
When I go to recover deleted items it appears i need to mark each email individually and then move them back to the inbox - I moved a few over successfully that I needed immediately but would like to have them all - is there another way to do it other than each email individually? thanks for your suggestions
Glad you got some email back from restoring the Trash. You can definitely move more than one email at a time by selecting them like you'd select multiple files within a directory.
Select the first email in the list, scroll down to the last email and then press the Shift key while clicking the last email. This will select all of the emails in the list. You can then click the Recover To option to move them where you want. You can de-select specific messages you don't want to recover by holding down the Control (Ctrl) key and clicking them, before you recover the messages.
