I'm setting up Outlook 2013 and outgoing server mail.shaw.ca is not working. Suggestions? Followed instructions for Shaw POP3 setup fro Outlook 2013.
Check to confirm Remote SMTP is enabled on your email account
What server settings are you using currently?
mail.shaw.ca or shawmail.xx.shawcable.net ? xx = city code (cg,gv,vc,etc.)
Looking at Outlook 2013 - POP Setup one thing that may be overlooked is the port number.
If you select "More Settings..." and then select the advanced tab there should be "Outgoing Server (SMTP)"
Is this set to 25 or 587?
For mail.shaw.ca it should be set to 587 and TLS selected as the encrytion option
Let us know if this worked for you. If so, we'll ask the mods to update the POP setup page.
When I tried this I got a popup box asking for my username and password. I entered my shaw username (without @shaw.ca) and my normal shaw webmail password. I am trying to set this up while away from my shaw network (remote). Does this matter?
Shouldn't be an issue configuring remotely as long as we're using the pop.shaw.ca (port 110) and the mail.shaw.ca (port 587) servers.
Are you still able to log into Shaw Webmail using the same username/password?
I'm using the 110 port for incoming and 587 for outgoing. I am still able to log into webmail using my username and password. Still not able to get an outgoing message to work.
Can you check the Outgoing Server tab to make sure it's using the same settings as your incoming server?
And double check that encrytion is set to TLS?
Both are exactly as shown.
That should cover it
May be the time to call or chat with tech support. See if we can get an shaw-moderator to connect with you
I looked all over in webmail and can't see where to change this. Direction?
That setting needs to be enabled by a Shaw technician or shaw-moderator
I'm sorry that we weren't able to follow up with you sooner. I've just checked into the e-mail address used to register for your Community profile, and I can confirm that remote access has been enabled. Have you been able to use Outlook successfully?
