Configuring a Cisco DPC3825 configured as modem only - how?

I have my own router behind it because the parental controls on the Cisco are completely useless.  The DD-WRT firmware on my own  router is infinitely superior, it is very user-friendly and works exactly as intended. And with due respect to Shaw, you are doing your clients a huge disservice by continuing this inferior Cisco product, as the wifi performance is not very impressive either. This as compared to my old Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH that is sitting behind it.
