Hooking a vcr /dvd plater with a digital box
Are you looking to record programming using the VCR, or are you just looking to play VHS tapes and DVDs? If you're only looking to play media, then the connection is a bit easier to make. You'll need to connect your VCR/DVD player combination to your TV, using one of the compatible connection types. The most common for VCRs would be RCA cables (red, white and yellow ends). You can then use the Source button on the TV's remote to swap between the VCR's input and the digital box's input.
If you're looking to record programming, you'll need to connect the digital box to the VCR/DVD player, and then the VCR/DVD player to your TV. There won't be a direct connection between the digital box and the TV. The connection type would depend on the input connections that would be compatible with the VCR/DVD player.
