My HD PVR will randomly turn itself off and reboot. This just started happening but is increasing in frequency. Any suggestions?
Also after one of these incidents it deleted all my PVR future recordings.
Overheating? Which model of PVR? Expander connected too or no?
630 model and it doesn't feel hot. I am not sure what an expander is

Expander is a hard drive that connects to your PVR to expand the storage,
Troubleshooting these are allways fun...
Unplug it, let it sit for half hour, plug back in, see if it that helps,
Try plugging it directly into the wall outlet rather than a powerbar
ok I do not have an expander.
I have tried unplugging it went to work and came back home but it was still resetting.
If I plug it in directly to the wall it wont be protected from lightening strikes
The transformer should protect the PVR, and as a test, unless you are in one of the major storm areas right now, is worth a try for a day or two
You are not alone. My PVR also occasionally reboots. Sometimes it has deleted all of my recorded programs, and very often it forgets to record what I've set up. I do not have an expander. I see this machine as very unstable. But what options do we have? I don't think Shaw can help us.
Had The same problem last Friday thru Tuesday, PVR was resetting itself about every half hour, After I tried Shaw's "unplug ,let sit awhile, plug it back in" routine, the resetting continued so I tried Shaw's Chat support option, after repeating the previous Shaw response, 'Joe' offered to reboot my PVR, that was at about 9:30 PM, it worked fine until 10:00 PM then it reset, ditto at 10:15, 10:26, 10:57, 11:18, 11:40, and 12:01. I pulled the plug and went to bed. Wednesday morning, I plugged it in and selected SETTINGS\PVR\PVR Cleanup with the remote and checked and deleted programs untill it was less than 60% full. It seems to have worked - it's now 9:44 Thursday and it has not reset.

After trying all your suggestions; unplugging, reseting, plugging directly into the wall, etc I am currently sitting in silence as I attempt not to throw my PVR through the window!!!! It just reset itself 8 times in a row and have lost all my settings AGAIN! Very frustrated but not sure what else I can do!
