I have reset my modem, all light are on except for a flashing TEL1 light. No dial tone. HELP!
I'm sorry to hear that the phone service isn't working correctly today. Have you had a chance to try the last two steps in this document? In some cases, the flashing TEL1 light can indicate that the line is "off hook". This is rarely due to a phone being left off the hook - it normally means that there is a problem with the house wiring (everything after the Home Phone modem). It may help to disconnect all phones in your home from power and the phone jacks, and then reconnect one at a time. If you aren't able to get a dial tone after trying this, please try to make a direct connection to the Home Phone modem. We have the steps for this available here: https://community.shaw.ca/docs/DOC-1013
Please let us know how that goes!
I have unplugged all phones and reconnected them one at a time. Still no dial tone. I went to the modem and the TEL1 light is still flashing, UNTIL I unplug the existing line that is connected to TEL1. When I disconnect it, even before connecting my phone line, the TEL1 light stops flashing. I plug my phone in and I have dial tone. Once I plug the original line back in, TEL1 flashes and I have no phone connection.
Yeah, that is a house-wiring issue, so you will likely need a service call, but in the mean time, you can have one phone connected and still have phone service.
Thank you for trying that. This lets us know that there's a problem with the house wiring somewhere between the connection from the Home Phone modem and to the phone jacks in your home. In this case, we'll need to arrange to have a service technician out to your home to investigate this further and correct the problem. I've just sent you a direct message so that we can arrange the appointment for you. You can check direct messages by clicking the Inbox link at the top of the page.
