I have an old but still excellent  Samsung DVD-VR 355 (recorder player combo)  which I used with my old Sony Triniton (Vega) TV (now gone to the recycle bin) mostly to record TV shows to disc.   I can still play DVDs on it  with my new Samsung TV 5500, however, I haven't figured out how to connect everything so I can still record to disc  instead of only to the hard drive on my TV........ or whether this is possible?  I have a Motorola cable box DCX3510-M. from Shaw .  If I bi pass the cable box it should work but then I would only have access to a limited number of channels to record.  Does anyone have any suggestions how I can have all three devices working together?  I don't want to damage anything by making the wrong connections.  Could I use a spliter with the antenna cable?  I also have an HDMI outlet on all three devices.
