If you check your digital phone terminal, how many lights is it showing?
It will look like one of these two devices Motorola SBV5220 or Arris TM602 Phone Terminal.
You can try resetting them with these options if all the lights are not solid green: How to remove the battery from your Digital Phone Terminal or a How to perform a DPT Pin-hole Reset.

You should have a modem for your Shaw phone service, located somewhere inside your home, we want to check and see what the status of the modem is.

I know what I am after and we have done what we could there is no reset hole on our modem so we removed the battery and now we are waiting our 10 or 15 minutes

What is the status of the lights on the front of the modem? Which ones are solid? Which ones are flashing?
TEL 1 is flashing green 4 others are solid green
Ok that means the modem is online, that is good.
Does your handset still say "Check Tel Line"?
