Are the updates to the Gateway going to be delayed by whats happening in Calgary?
There will be no delays due to flooding. All systems are still operational and in working order. Updates proxy through servers, where the original download comes from Arris. Those servers are in multiple locations across the country and away from flood zones
I'm working on communicating updates for next week (with Marks help). However, I don't want to make any promises right now due to the Flooding.
Probably not, there isn't a reason to delay them, but *shrugs* who knows
Thanks, waiting impatiently
Me too, but then I changed to waiting patiently, the improved trick-functions I am looking forward to the most, but a minor update, not enough to become inpatient about lol
Yeah thats true. Just like to have the newest is all!
Be lucky you didn't get the newest PS3 update? lol
Actually kevinds I was one of the "lucky" ones to get the PS3 update.
Were you lucky enough to have a dead one too?
As a doornail
I discussed it in this thread.
Re: Video Games, oh yeah!
I did get the 7.12 update though overnight with no issues. First impressions, like the new font seems crisper, the light off on the portal is now totally off which I like. Haven't checked anything else yet, will post more later.
Yeah, I thought that was yours, but couldn't find it to confirm... Newest isn't allways better lol but I suspect Shaw will be nicer to people about bricking their hardware with an update then Sony is
i guess the arris randomizer took your "waits impatiently" and answered your call haha
glad that you have it now. Look forward to hearing your experiences (hopefully more positive than previous releases )
on a side note, thanks for posting about the ps3 update. I don't follow that stuff, and probably would have updated with the chance of bricking. I so would have been angry if that happened
Yeah, when I got the system restart required on the Gateway this morning I was a little hesitant after what happened with my PS3 but all went smoothly. Everything seems good, the font seems sharper, trick mode ( hate that word, shouldn't be trick to FW or REW) seems snappier with the supplied remote although the Harmony doesn't seem as responsive, the opposite of before, that could be my imagination though, take some further playing around.
Glad knowing "Gateway supplied remote" got A+ from you buckycat
have you received the update yet?
Thanks for asking mark_vse As you said; "indication is? I'm not seeing this one as of yet...That means not yet.!
I'm still patient though! It's OK 'll gonna come
based on the screenshot, you would have it.
to find out, go to settings, then go down to channel list and in your remote hit "back, next, back, next"
hitting the right arrow will circle through your portals and gateway, and you can see the software version.
should show 18.104.22.168
i think you got it though if that first picture is yours
The screenshot was taken from your preview mark_vse haha! Yes! I did able to access that "installer tool" [ thanks to you guys I'm second grade tech smarter now] It still shows 7.0.4 whatever? and upgrade portion still in grey kind of colour which in my understanding determine the ongoing update. Thanks!
If you go to the left or right, does the Gateway show the same? On the Gateway, Update Account - first one below Close Dashboard, might allow you to upgrade
Oh really? kevinds I should be more gutsy to try that. Thanks.
Do you switch from the 3510 to Gateway? If so, are you happier now?
I swiched (actually repurposed) from a DCX3400 to the Gateway in January. I read lots about the DCX3510 and I didn't want it.
I just moved my DCX3400 to my computer-system setup, and it is now connected to a Slingbox, the Portals on my TVs.
I am happier with the Gateway, recording conflicts don't happen as much
I have the update now too, I'm going to try that later then, using the MP2000 remote and comparing the trick functions to my Harmony remote... Significant improvement already though.
So far, so good
We're glad mark_vse and everyone in Calgary are safe' that's matter the most for now
Agreed. Our prayers go out to the many people who had to evacuate their homes. The city of Calgary is strong and for that matter the rest of Alberta too that is affected by this flood. Alberta will overcome this tragedy and rebuild. We are all thankful that many albertan's are safe , and there hasn't been a lot of casualties from the flood. The losses that did happen however, our thoughts and prayers go out to those families.
