I recently signed up with Shaw Cable with a basic internet package, HighSpeed 10. It includes a modem rental.
When I checked my modem and it's a Motoroal SB5102 which has an (old?) DOCSIS 2.0 standard.
In looking over Consumer Reports Forum one of the moderators stated:"DOCSIS 3.0 is the current standard used by most cable companies".
So my questions:
1 - Would I benefit from a newer (DOCSIS 3.0) Modem if Shaw supports it?
2 - If did buy a newer (better?) Modem independently would Shaw allow it given I am on the cheapest HighSpeed 10 plan?
3 - With different internet plans does Shaw give different Modems? For example, with the HighSpeed 25 plan do you get a different (better?) Modem than the one I have?
