I am able to receive emails but not send. I have been through all the set up documents; using mail.shaw.ca port 587 to no avail. I have ensured remote access and checked password.
Not sure what else to try....
I will be able to confirm if Remote Access was successfully enabled, please check in your Community Inbox for a private message.
Was this the set up document you used? https://community.shaw.ca/docs/DOC-1038
Yes but no luck!
What happens if you try to sign into webmail.shaw.ca with that password?
How did you ensure Remote Access was enabled?
Yes both remote access was enabled and I am able to login to webmail using that password. I have followed every piece of instruction I could find on the topic without success.
You said you ensured that Remote Access was enabled, How did you confirm that?
I followed the remote access instructions - logged into Webmail, mobile/devices; confirmed password and saved. Is there another way to confirm it is enabled? Or, does remote access need to be enable by someone at Shaw, in which case, I am not sure that this has been done.
That sometimes enables remote access, sometimes it doesn't...
Only way I know of to be sure it is enabled, is have an employee check/confirm/enable it
I find that sometimes you have to fiddle around with the outgoing mail settings a little. Try using port 25 instead of 587, try with SSL on/off, and try with authentication "none" or with authentication "password". I know it sounds screwy, but try every permutation of this, and one will work.
I deleted my email account and started from scratch. the mail.shaw.ca server does not work to send email but shaw.ca does! Not sure why but now I can finally send - yay me!!
Thanks for the suggestion.
