I have been having issues with Shaw Internet Support Program. It wouldn't update, and now I cannot access the internet on any network. Anybody knows what the issue could be?
Sorry I couldn't respond to you sooner; I got sidetracked by other stuff.
Thanks for your input! I talked to different people and the possible sources of the problem were 1) a recent windows update, and 2) a virus that prevented the computer from connecting to the internet because it could 'ping' according to an IT guy who (briefly) looked at the computer.
I figured it would save me time resetting the computer to factory settings than trying to solve the problem by other means. That is what I did, and I am back in business.
If you installed Shaw Support, click on "run test". That should release and reset your IP address. More information on Shaw Support is at Installing Shaw Support.
Thanks. I will try that once I am able to open the program. It shuts down when I try to run it.
It might not have installed properly. If it keeps shutting down, you might have to go to Window's control panel and remove it, then go back to the Shaw site and reinstall it.
I did that, still same problem. Another computer I have works fine without this program. A Shaw technician installed the program when he hooked up the internet. I am just wondering if he did something that I need to know?
Sorry for the delay getting back to you. I've checked around and haven't heard of this issue anywhere else. If it's only on the one computer and not the other, there has to be something on that computer that is conflicting with Shaw Support.
With a side by side comparison of the two computers, what programs are you using on the problem one that you aren't running on the other? For example, is the antivirus/firewall the same?
