Guys, I have just installed 500GB hard drive to gateway and the recording storage went from 26% used to only 18%?!? How come only this little space became available? Is there something wrong? Or is everything OK?
Make sure you format the drive after connecting, otherwise the math would seem that it should be closer to 10% used.
Maybe it extended the buffer time, to use the extra space available.
Yes, I did format the drive.
Anybody else know how it calculates the free space or why it doesn't look like expected?
Did you record a few extra hours of TV since connecting the Expander? (Have to ask the obvious question, because it does get overlooked often enough )
Try rebooting the Gateway?
No Sir, I soon as I connected the expander I checked the status of it. 26 to 18 when 500gb connected.
Try rebooting the Gateway then, otherwise mark_vse might know? gamerguy maybe?
Well, I tried rebooting Gateway but that didn't help much.
Maybe the others will chime in
Checked into this and here is what we are able to see.
It looks like your external drive is only reading as 250 GB... that is why the percentage is reading much lower.
That would definately explain a lot
Hmm, I'll try to reformat the drive on PC and try again or use a different HD. Is there a way to check the size of expander by myself ? In the hidden menu possibly?
Should be in the External Drive option (but can't confirm I don't have one)
When you reformat on your PC, check the size it shows.
Is it a 2 drive enclosure? 2x250GB? Or a single 500GB drive? It is an enclosure that you can open up and read the drive size off the sticker on the drive?
I have forwarded the request to be added to the feature list. I think its a good one to have on a personal note
