Does the 30 day notice for cancellation mean that the service is available for those 30 days? Does the modem have to be returned on the day the cancellation request is made?
You are being billed for service, you can use it if you want.
Either? I'm sorry, I don't understand.
You can cancel your service and return the modem on the day you make the request, or you can cancel your service, keep the modem until the 30 days is up, and return it afterwards, so you can continue to use the service.
You are paying for the service either way, might as well use it
So I only get charged for the equipment if it is not returned when the service ends? Reading other people's messages saying they were charged has confused me.
Excuse me .. Hope is ok .. I Need a Info : Do Wee Have to Gave Notice.. This meant .. Wen Cancel Wee Always Have 1 Month And Wee Paid.. Is Not Cancel Right Away .. Right ? Thanks
When you contact us to cancel services, we require 30 days notice. That will start from the day you contact us. You will be billed for that 30 days and your services will continue to be active.
Your account is probably setup that you pay one month in advanced, if you want to cancel your account, you still need to give 30 days notice, otherwise your service will continue and you still owe Shaw money for the services received.
Let me try again:
After calling in to cancel, I have 30 days to use the service? Yes / No
The modem must be returned on the day when the service is no longer available, not before that. Yes / No
There is no charge for cancellation Yes / No
There is no charge if modem is returned (or picked up) when service disconnected Yes / No
You can absolutely use the service for the full 30 day period after you give notice. We are pretty flexible when it comes to when you are able to return the equipment to us, if you return this within 1-2 weeks after your service has ended, that is perfectly fine (the equipment can also be returned any time before this of course). We can look for a convenient equipment return location near you and there are no additional fees when you drop the equipment off, just let me know if you'd like additional help finding a location.
Excellent, and thank you!
You're welcome trkassam! I just wanted to clarify one more thing regarding being charged for rental equipment. When you provide notice, your account will have charges added for unreturned equipment at that time. As soon as we receive the equipment from you, all of these equipment charges are reversed. Occasionally, this can cause confusion for some people as they may receive their final invoice with equipment charges included, either because they have not returned the equipment yet, or because they have dropped off the equipment at one of the UPS stores accepting Shaw equipment returns (additional time is needed for UPS to ship the equipment back to Shaw). These charges are always removed when we receive the equipment, however.
Thank you Jeff. That being the case, do please let me know the closest Shaw store where I can drop off the equipment. Could you please do so off the list so I can provide my address.
Sure thing. I've sent you a private message to get your address information, please check your Community Inbox.
