It's been a while, and I was hoping this might be on the horizon... anyone know?
I heard back that this is still something that is planned, but will require some firmware upgrades on some of the legacy hardware (older than DCX). Wasn't able to get an eta on the firmware update at this point but we'll keep you posted if we hear of anything further.
If you have the Gateway it already supports up to a 6 TB expander, so a 3rd party solution may work for you. Perhaps mark_vse can speak to what 3rd party solutions may work.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the question rolyat77 - I have forwarded your question to a few folks here who may know what the status is.
Perhaps they can post a reply here in this thread themselves, I will let you know.
I've done a lot of research on larger 3rd party expanders, there are a couple specific model numbers have confirmed work, but the general rule is the external drive, if using multiple drives to get to 6TB has to present as only one drive to the PVR, RAID 0 for example (setup seperately from the PVR), not a SATA port-multiplier setup.
Do you know of a third party 6TB expander that works and where can I purchase one? Thanks
I see that your question has been replied to in this discussion.
