I am curious if I can replace the DPC3825.
I'm wanting to know if I can simply replace it with a Linksys EA3500 Router, or is the DPC3825 still required.
The DPC3825 wireless modem is required even if you plan on using a Linksys router (because the Linksys is a router only and does not replace the modem). If you plan using a Linksys router, your DPC3825 modem should be bridged so that its router features are disabled. Let me know if you'd like help with that and I'll send you a direct message to make that change.
Thanks for replying. Some more questions then.
The Linksys Router is already purchased(eep) so here we go.
1. I am no the account holder, I am the son, I do have the account number, if I call with that or talk to you is that enough to change to bridge mode. This will be done tomorrow.
2. After researching a lot, this router should help improve with range and performance. Is this true? I would assume so since now the modem has less work to do. Any other information you can provide speaking on performance?
Bridging your modem should not be a problem if we can verify a few security details first (even if you aren't the account holder yourself). I'll send you a direct message to see if we can get this changed for you, please check your Community Inbox.
It's a possibility that your Linksys router may improve the wireless range/performance you get, but if you choose to use this you would need to rely on Linksys for any support troubleshooting the wireless connection.
