Just wondering if anybody know when and if the network upgrade will be completed for the city of Sault Ste Marie
Plug the cable directly into your TV, check the analog stations in the 30's see if you still get them? Or if there is a banner across the station every now and then (6 and 36 minutes after the hour maybe)
The network upgrade for Sault Ste Marie has been completed over a month ago. Are you having any issues with your channels?
well if it has been done for over a month now then why have still not gotten the rest of the hd channels we r missing channels like fx canada hd, discovery hd,splice hd, comedy hd, bravo hd, big ten hd, cnn hd. h2 hd.
That's a fair question, I do know that the programming team was investigating this earlier when we asked them about it. I will follow-up with them and see if we have any further information available at this time.
I called Shaw in early April to ask why I wasn't receiving the new HiFi channels and was told DNU was not completed in my area. I was assured it would be done by May 16th "at the absolute latest". It's now 3 months past that and I still don't have any of the new DNU-required channels. Can you please tell me what's happening with the DNU in this area (Auburn Bay, Calgary)? Thanks.
The DNU for the Auburn Bay area is scheduled for mid-late September. This is potentially subject to change, but will likely proceed then, after which time you should have access to the channels which are DNU only (eqHD, radX and HiFi HD for example).
If we did cite you any dates in the past such as May, it's possible it was scheduled but delayed.
Any update on Thunder Bay.
The last letter I got was for today was for the change and so far the 3 TMN extra HD channels are still not there.
You mentioned you got a letter? It should most likely state the date on it as to when it'll be complete. I'd need to know in which area of Thunder Bay you live, so if it doesn't show any dates, let us know and we can check your account to confirm.
The second letter says that it will be completed today. I live in Westfort but I am over the tracksd which is closer to Northwood. PM, me for the exact address.
For sure, I've sent a message to your Inbox.
I don't think Thunder Bay had the DNU yet. My analog channels show what the Classic Channel listing is and not the Basic.
any news yet as to when sault ste marie will be getting the rest of the hd channels we r missing... since we have been told that the dnu is cpmplete here should we have gotten then missing hd channels by now.
I was in an online chat about 2 weeks ago and asked this question. They told me Vancouver took almost 2 years start to finish and that their ( 2 support guys who reviewed some sault dnu posts i pointed them at) best guest would be not months but closer to a year before anything happens in the sault with extra hd channels.
The point is that with the DNU completed in Sault Ste. Marie - since around August, that should have freed up a lot of band width. Therefore, Shaw should be able to provide us with at least some of the missing channels.
Yet we get nothing and there has been no explanation from Shaw as to why or what the time lines are for getting the missing channels. This shows a lot of arrogance and disregard for their customers.
Shaw, as reported last week, is still losing a lot of cable customers. It's this type of attitude that will drive even more customers away.
Indeed, it's been awhile since we've updated you on this. We do apologize for the delay.
Unfortunately, at the moment we don't have any further details on additional channels being offered in Sault Ste. Marie, but I'll inquire with a few departments to see what I can find out. I'll post here again with any additional information I can get for you.
Thanks for your patience.
Thunder Bay just got the DNU yesterday.
I noticed the 2 new TMN HD channels and then on one TV, I plugged the cable directly to the TV and CNN is now gone.
I'm also interested to know what's going on in Sault Ste. Marie.
Why can't we get a direct answer. Either the DNU is complete and we should have all the channels everyone else has or it's not.
I've seen no notifications regarding the DNU in our area.
If we are still not getting all the HD channels other markets have after the DNU, then why not?
just wondering when we will be getting the rest of the hd channels we are missing here in sault ste marie
Hey there domi222
I'll send you a direct message to get your account info and take a look at this for you.
Please check your Community Inbox for a message from me.
We're still working towards bringing additional channels to your area, but we do still have some technical difficulties to address. I realize this is the most vague response possible, but this is all we've been given information-wise so far. We're awaiting word from our teams involved with expanding these offerings to the area and we will give you an update as soon as more information becomes available.
Apologies for the delay folks.
So a vague answer and no time line. That is typical of my experience and frustration with Shaw and one of the reasons I'm considering switching to Bell FibreOp when it becomes available in my neighbourhood. They have actually given a time line for their roll out of 1 to 6 months - how refreshing.
You realize we are paying for a bunch of channels that we aren't even getting.
So I checked the one TV in the house not connect to a box and I can't get any channels above 27. Therefore, I assume the DNU was completed in Sault Ste. Marie. We were promised that once DNU was complete, we would get the missing channels - the ones mentioned in a previous post that most Shaw markets already have.
Anyone from Shaw care to update us on what the problem is and when it will be resolved?
I just checked on mine and I still get the channels had should be removed from Analog in Thunder Bay.
The sound of crickets and birds chirping.
Sorry for the late response anthony2532,
At this point in time we don't have any new information to share, I'm sorry that we aren't able to give you more definitive information at this time. However, I will be keeping your questions in mind and as soon as we receive any update of information, I or one of my fellow moderators will update you as soon as possible here in this thread.
My apologies for any inconvenience this is causing you.
Is the free SD box for the DNU still available in Thunder Bay?
Any customers who do not have a digital box on their account will still be able to receive a complimentary unit. You can find the page on our Shaw.ca site here.
Thanks but what about someone who has a box but did not get one for free and they have an outlet that doesn't have a box?
The only complimentary units we have been giving out were for customers who did not previously have a digital box. For anyone that already has digital equipment, you can click on the "I already have a digital box" on that website to see what options are available for you.
Thanks. I know the options and I don't want to buy another box.
