Router issues

So recently I started having problems with my TP Link router, the connection seemed to start dropping out eventually leading to no internet at all. Initially I thought it had to do with the router because it would not recognize the connection from the Shaw modem. I was able to get a connection to my PC if I directly connected from the modem to my PC. I purchased another router because I need to be able to work from various areas of my home and I'm experiencing the exact same problem. I even used the all new CAT cables provided by the routers. Im able to access the routers via a browser when theyre connected to my computer via an ethernet cable but they don't receive any connection from my modem it seems. Never had this issue before and I'm not familiar with a lot of networking problems so I'm at a loss for what I need to do now.
