it would be nice to have shows available thru the app immediately after they air.
Hey again jdw430
I've checked into this a bit further and found something. It turns out that the new episodes are in fact available via On Demand through Shaw Video On Demand (http://vod.shaw.ca) just not through the MC Go App. My above explanation was more toward VOD in general than the app itself, so I apologize if that was misleading at all. There is still a process involved when it comes to us loading content onto the app after it is available On Demand, and that is apparently where the issue is in this case.
So in the interest of not complicating this any more, I'll just say that this is something we can correct and thank you for pointing it out. I'll make sure the right department is aware at our end and we'll have the app updated as soon as possible.
Hey there jdw430
There can be a couple reasons for this. Usually it just depends on the terms of the license agreement between Shaw and the broadcaster/network. There can be varying time frames or delays as to when it's okay for us to put something up for On Demand access. It certainly would be nice if things were available immediately after they air, but it's normal that they are not. There is the possibility of technical issues creating delays as well, but that sort of thing would be identified on a case-by-case basis.
I hope that helps answer your question. If you're noticing ongoing problems with a certain show, or anything like that which doesn't seem normal, please list an example or two and I can take a look into it for you.
Thanks Colin! I was referring specifically to Dexter and True Blood. Last week, both were available on the Monday immediately following the Sunday broadcast. This week, it is Friday and the new episodes are still not available. Is it just me somehow?
You're welcome. I've just checked here and the new episodes of Dexter and True Blood are not yet available On Demand. So good news is that it's not just you, it's the overall availability of the shows via On Demand. The not-so-good news is that I couldn't tell you exactly why its any different than last week. It is most likely to do with how we obtain the content from the network and the process involved for us to have it available to be ordered. That is of course generalizing so I'll do some digging here and let you know if I can find any more specific information.
That's great. Thank you Colin!
