The old digital boxes allowed owner to program 3 channels say 4,8,11and use a remote with separate guides on each channel. What happened to that option?
Hey there cando
Sorry if I'm missing something here, but I'm not entirely sure of which feature you're referring to. It sounds like you're asking about favorites lists, which are still available. Would you mind confirming that or explaining in a bit more detail please?
The simple version is. Once digital box was programmed for 3 remotes, one can open the mystery channel with remote 4, then open the space channel with remote 8, then open the sports channel with remote 11. Therefore three different channels can be viewed on three separate TVs, or you can view the programmed channel on one TV by switching to channel 4,8,or11. It has nothing to do with favorites list or any other list. It only needs channel packages guide button.
Alright, thanks for explaining. I'm still a bit lost so I ran this by someone else who mentioned that you may be a Shaw Direct customer, in which case we're discussing Satellite TV service. Is that correct? If so, I'll get the attention of our Shaw Direct mods so they can assist further.
You are going in the wrong direction with Shaw Direct. Since no one can ex plane why not I will assume the newer boxes and remotes like the Gateway DCX 3510M or HD Box DCX3200-M do not have that option. Time to move on. Thanks.
I know what cando is talking about.
Shaw Cable has never had this option/feature, Shaw Direct, I believe still does, and always has had.
shaw-colin More needed with UHF remotes than IR, but IR still applies as well... You select a channel, 1-11 or 1-16 or something, and the Set-Top-Box only responds to the one remote, instead of all the remotes.
cando If this is correct, the DCX3510 models won't have this, but the Gateway system and the Pace/Motorola terminals won't interact with each other either. Shaw Cable terminals, never could do this.
