How do I mute the 3400 PVR using the remote when connected directly to an amplifier and bypassing the TV?
My receiver does not have a remote or mute function, but works fine otherwise.
I'd recommend going to Cable Remote Support by Universal Electronics, clicking on "audio" and then entering your amp's brand and model. As long as the amp is compatible with our remote, you should be able to use your Shaw remote to control the amp.
basil1 Which remote are you using? You can use a 'hidden' remote command to mute the DCX3400 itself.
The one with five grey keys below the five device keys.
Ok, what I am thinking of, won't work on the 1056, the 1055 yes.
If you are able to get your remote exchanged for the 1055 (same remote but doesn't light up), it could work.
Your receiver doesn't have a mute function, you also said you are connecting it directly to an amplifier. Directly to an amplifier, do you have volume control now? - There might be a way on the 1056 to use the volume control and mute directly on the terminal - never tried the commands for doing this. If you can control the volume now using your remote, it would 'break' that though
I do also have a "11055BC2" remote, which doesn't light up, and works on the 3400.
I have volume control on the remote and the receiver.
Press the "Cable" button
Press and Hold the Setup button until the Cable button blinks twice
Press and Release Setup
Press the * key located under the "7" key
This will only work on the non-light-up Atlas remote.
Could also push the Mute button, instead of the * key as well. Whichever button you push, becomes mute.
Worked perfectly - Thanks
Do you know how to get the time on the display.
Now it is the channel you are watching or blank when PVR turned off.
-Going off memory..
Down to Setup
Cable Box Setup
(left or right)
Change to Current Time, Ok/Select, then Exit
Basically correct - get to Cable Box Set and make changes - thanks.
Going back to the original question (Aug 31) of how to get the PVR to mute - how do I reverse the setting?
In addition, I've just noticed that the volume control on the cable remote is inactive (even in cable mode) although the volume band still appears on the TV screen. Control is only directly on the amplifier. This was not the case when I originally converted to PVR based remote. Any ideas?
If you programmed the * as your mute as my instructions said, push * again.
If you used another key (mute key for example) push it instead.
Volume band inactive? I thought you were using you Shaw remote to adust the volume on your amp?
I assume you mean go through the steps in reply # 6 and press the selected "remote" button again.
I was using the Shaw remote to control volume and mute. I picked an amplifier setting and then used the remote for fine adjustment. It worked ok initially, but I just noticed, a day after changing the PVR display to show time, that it is inactive - as described above.
Don't have to go through them again, just use which ever button you chose.
But if it stopped after changing the front display, that is odd, other than a power-cycle, maybe a reset from Shaw, no idea yet
