NAS with Shaw Router

Branched to a new discussion

I have an external hard drive that I'd like to connect to a router so I can have a NAS (Networked Attached Storage)

The "Technician" that came in my house had no idea what that was...

I've logged into the web interface of the Shaw Router, and I see nothing about the USB port that I see on the back of the modem.

I also noticed that there is another box that looks router near the "Gateway". Do I need to plug in the hard drive to the router near the "Gateway Portal"

or the "Gateway" itself, or are the USB ports disabled, just like they are for Telus?

The IP address used to access the web interface is : 192.168.0.1

Is there a way to access more options? Like a root account to access the router's settings?

I remember Telus had a root account login to access advanced options.
