how do I connect a pvr to my toshiba rear projection TV - I have a panasonic dvd player in between
Use another input on your TV?
Depending on the inputs on your TV and on the PVR you've got mangopop, you may be able to use composite (red/blue/green) or HDMI for HD quality, or composite (red/white/yellow) for SD quality.
Thanks for input - but I am more interested in what type of connectors/
cables I need to do the job - >
As Matt mentioned, it would depend on the PVR you have and the ports available on your TV. There are a lot of wiring documents found here https://community.shaw.ca/community/tv-articles#equipment for all of our equipment.
I would recommend connecting your DVD direct to your TV, without going through the Shaw PVR. Which PVR unit do you have?
I have a Toshiba 50" Rear Projection TV and a Panasonic HDD/DVD Recorder/Player hooked up to a Motorola 3400. My Toshiba does not have a HDMI input so I have to use a composite connection to get the HD channels. Shaw cable goes into the PVR, composite (3 wire RGB cable) cable from the PVR to the TV, along with a Left/Right audio cable for sound. I tried a S-Video cable instead of the RGB composite but couldn't view the HD channels. The Panasonic is connected direct to the TV using another composite cable connection, along with audio. When I want to watch TV I set the input on the TV to HD1, when I want to watch a DVD I set the input to Composite. I haven't tried to use the record function on the Panasonic, seeing as the PVR does that without my having to mess around with loading a DVD.
Thanks for this - I will work with it on weekend - hopefully it will work
Did you get this working over the weekend yet?
